About Us

Coach Marty Lang first opened Lang Fencing Academy in 2020. He has helped numerous students get into, and fence for, the college or university of their choosing.

The most decorated student Marty trains is a talented 15 year old girl, who has been with him for five years. In her age category, she has been the number one foil fencer in the Southeast section of the country since she was 11. She currently fences in the national tournaments around the country, and her goal is to be on the 2032 Olympic Fencing Team. This is just one success story of many from Lang Fencing Academy!

Coach Marty offers group sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Brentwood, TN from 6:30-9:30. He also offers private lessons, both in the club or in your home, whichever is more convenient. Contact us today if you are interested in getting involved in the Lang Fencing Academy!

Marty Lang has been fencing for over 50 years, and is now using his experience to share his passion for the sport with others. In college, he had an amazing career at New York University, only losing 5 bouts in his years competing there. And, in 1972, he finished second in the NCAA Championship, earning First Team All American honors.

During a twelve year period, Marty represented the US on 9 International teams, including World Championships, Pan American Games and the Olympics; he also won six individual and team Division 1 National Championships. At The Pan American Games in 1975, held in Mexico City, Coach Marty won the Individual Foil Championship-making him the first American to win a gold medal at the Pan Am Games in foil in 20 years! At the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Marty competed in both the individual and team foil events.

In 2012, Coach Marty was inducted into the NYU Athletic Hall of Fame, and in 2024 was inducted into the USA Fencing Hall of Fame.
